With over 36 years of experience, Kul has worked across the public, private, and international sectors, guiding senior leaders, boards, and executive teams to grow diverse talent pipelines, enhance cultural competence, and drive sustainable organisational change. His expertise spans leadership coaching, emotional intelligence, governance, positive action programmes, and the design of bespoke training to enable leaders to thrive in complex environments. He draws inspiration from his lived experience, knowledge through research and practical solutions. He was a founder member of the National Black Police Association working with the Home Secretary on strategic police race reform.
A market leader in positive action initiatives, Kul has transformed recruitment, retention, and progression of underrepresented groups, particularly Black and Minority Ethnic staff, across major UK institutions including the Home Office and the Welsh Government. His leadership has shaped national and international programmes for organisations such as BMW Group Academy, Greater Manchester Police, Royal Mail Group, East Midlands Housing Group, the College of Policing, and governmental bodies in Kenya, India, and Peru.
He is a sought-after conference speaker on DEI, race equity, leadership, and wellbeing, known for combining rigorous evidence-based insights with a dynamic and engaging style that inspires action. His style is described as direct and to the point. He also serves as subject matter expert for various Boards as a non-executive director and is a trusted advisor for the Ministry of Justice.
Dr. Verma holds a Doctorate in Criminal Justice from the University of Portsmouth, where his research focused on institutional racism and cultural bias in leadership progression. He is also a Master Trainer for EQI 2.0, with a degree in Law and a masters in Training & Evaluation.
